Blog #10

I can definitely say that one thing I found interesting when reading my classmates blogs were that they either wrote a lot of the same things that I did or whatever they did say I was in agreence with. I can not think of one blog where I did not agree with something someone said, which I found to be pretty cool. One skill that I actually would like to learn more about would be about the second powerpoint assignment. I was very interested as to how we made it into a "Who wants to be a millionare" game and would love to do another thing like that.
I feel like I will be able to achieve more in my educational career by remember not one but all of the techniques we have learned so far and applying them in all of my future teaching jobs!

There are actually two resources that I found very interesting and that I know for sure I will be able to use when I become a teacher. The first being powerpoint, I love being creative and teaching people things in a fun and definitely non-boring way. By using powerpoint presentations in teaching I feel like will grab the students attention and make it more personable.
Secondly, I had never done any work in the excel program and to be honest I was a little confused last class but by the end of the class period I actually understood what I was doing. Depending upon what grade I teach I feel like the excel program would be very helpful.
I can't think of a brand new skill I would like to learn but I do know that I would definitely be interested in learning more about the mircosoft excel program.
Some ways that I might achieve my future educational technology-related goals would be by possibly taking a different computer course or even learning news things from future teachers and my peers.

After reading the very first line in this chapter I was already drawn into a new subject, one in which I didn't know a lot about. This sentence reading that computer security risk is any event or action that has potential of causinga loss of computer equipment, software, data and information, or processing capability. Some different security issues are as follows, biometric devices and firewalls, this protecting against software and information theft as well as total system failure. Lastly, in the chapter I learned that computer ethics are the moral guidelines that govern the use of computers, networks and information systems.
Since our last blog posting I learned more about making powerpoint presentations. I wasn't even aware that you could make powerpoints into a game, I had so much fun with that and I know that I will be able to use it in the future with my students.
Well as far as my life goes, I'm going home this weekend and I am super excited about it and I going to the rascal flatts concert so I just can'teven wait!!

In order for most to protect their computer against computer theft there are a few different precautions that yo could take. You can have battery backup or possibly a surge protector. Ethics are the standards that determine whether an action is good or bad and computer ethics are the moral guidlines that govern the use of computers, networks, and information systems. Before reading this chapter I wasn't really aware of these ethics and I now know more about the five areas of computer ethics. These five areas being, unauthorized use of computers, hardware, software and information theft, information privacy, copyright and the existance of abjectionable materials on the internet.
Since last class I learned a lot more about creating powerpoint presentations. I was in a business magnet in high school and we were always involved with projects on the computer involving powerpoint. Even though after four years of practice I thought I knew everthing there was to know about powerpoint I definitely learned a lot more about different layouts ant animation.
I am so so so excited about the homecoming game this weekend mostly because it is an eight o'clock game so we won't be dying of heat!

Through out all of ours years of elementary, middle and high school we always hear the saying "we are going by a certain curriculum". I always thought I knew exactly what this meant but until reading chapter six I was unaware of the true definition. Curriculum is defined as the knowledge, skills and performance standards students are expected to aquire in particular grade levels. Also anothe fact about curriculum is that is has certain curriculum standards, these documents are called curriculum frameworks or curriculum guides. Another topic that stood out to me was the learning process. One theory of learning is authentic learning experiences, these demonstrate real-life connections by associating the concept being taught with a real life experience or event. This largely stood out to be mostly because it was new to my vocabulary but also because it was cool and interesting.
Since our last posting the skills that I have learned are definitely pertaining to Wiki! I learned a lot about wiki sites last class, not only making one but about the informationg as well.
My week has been pretty stressful but I am really excited because my sorority got second in greek idol and volleyball and we got first in cheers for charity!! GO ADPi!! oh and im really excited for the miami game, Go noles!

In chapter five I learned a lot about both Digital Media Applications as well as Educational Software Application. As far as media applications some of the things that stood out to me most were that many digital media applications are used for edutainment, which I have never heard of until I read this book and this chapter. Edutainment is an experience meant to be both educational and entertaining which is basically a blend of the two big things in my life. Also in media applications virtual reality is one thing that has always fascinated me throughout my entire life. I love 3D movies for example and the futureistic games they have at some arcades. In educational software applications one thing that I learned that I didn't know was that digital media applications enrich the learning process by providing individualized instruction and exploration.
Since our last posting I definitely learned a lot about forms and how to make them. Before our last assignment I had never made and sort of form like that before and I found it interesting to not only be able to make one but to also see the other ones that people had made previously.
This week for me so far has been extremely stressful as far as school goes I have had lots of test and homework and on top of all that it is initation week for my sorority so that is pretty stressfull as well. I know that is will all be worth it though especially when I am officially a sister of Alpha Delta Pi!

When learning about evaluating educational technology I always thought that evaluating was sort of just going through or looking over certain things but by definition from the book I learned that to evaluate educational technology is to determine its value or judge its worth. Also during the process of evaluating it involves determining if certain technology is approriate or if it inhances the teaching and learning process. I also learned that in order to evaluate technology there is the Evaluation Cycle. The cycle goes from before instruction to during instruction to after instruction. Then after that you evaluate and revise.
New skill that I have aquired since our last posting would definitely have to do with having to look up the different websites just as we did last class. Before I was very firmiliar with many websites so that really helped me to explore around the world wide web.
This week for me was pretty good I didn't get to go to the game so that was prety depressing but me and my boyfriend got to just hang out and watch movie and relax for once in our lives so that was nice too. I'm really really excited about parents weekend though, I can't wait to see my parents and eat lots of good food at my sorority house!
